It was a different type of book for Lindsey but had her familiar and enjoyable writing style. " I couldn't get past three chapters of this book. Reading a Scottish accent was a bit distracting at times. " Typical romance book, nothing really outstanding. But the characters were cute and the plot was amusing. And writing out the Scottish brogue gets a little old. I also enjoyed the secondary characters in this one: Ophelia, Raphael, Duncan's grandfathers, Ophelia's sycophants. The storyline is fairly typical of romance novels, but Lindsey writes well and makes her characters interesting. " A large part of enjoying a novel or a movie for me is that I can identify, or at least empathise, with the main and secondary characters, and in 'The Heir', this was the case.

Overall Performance: Narration Rating: Story Rating:."Duncan & Sabrina have a genuine relationship that makes sense!! They do not fall in love after just one brief meeting, nor is their relationship based on sex and attraction.I found myself rooting for Sabrina, hoping that Duncan would find a way to be with her. But duty and circumstance-plus a scandal in Sabrina's family past-have made it impossible for her and the dashing highlander to be together…unless true love can somehow, miraculously, find a way. The enchanting Sabrina enthralls Duncan much more than his own intended does, and she shares his passionate feelings as well. But his bride-to-be, Ophelia, has been guiding a lovely and witty, if dreadfully inexperienced, country girl named Sabrina through the latter's all-important first coming-out season. Worse still, he is engaged to a stranger who has mocked him in public. The grandson of a Scottish clan laird, Duncan MacTavish is shocked to learn that his other grandfather was an English marquis whose title and London estate he is now required to take on.
